 Update on Beach Water Quality:

There was a multi agency conference call last week which included over 30 people to help identify the source of our contamination in the beach water. It was hosted by the Texas General Land Office and both Brazoria and Matgorda County attended. They are working on a sampling plan to locate the source of the contamination still. I spoke with the GLO rep when our water quality got good again asking if the high winds from the east had helped - he confirmed that was the reason and this helps them further locate the source. I was given a full report on the analysis done so far - and the contamination started off somewhat normal in June and got fairly severe in August which really got them moving on finding the source. Anytime the level goes high, they move from weekly sampling to daily sampling and they are checking the sampling process as well. So bottom line: east winds helped; they are still working on identifying the source and they will keep us posted. And it was great to get in the water and really enjoy it last weekend!
As for beach erosion - I touched base with the lady from Atkins Global on the erosion project and they are waiting on a contract from GLO. I asked GLO for an update on the contract as well.
