Elections - the way to get more money to Sargent

The Commissioners Court is where we need more help to tap into the millions of dollars from state and federal sources for both drainage and beach erosion.  And there are literally millions and millions of dollars if we had a plan and we had politicians pushing to get it.

So how do we get more help from the Commissioners Court in Matagorda County? We elect people who represent Sargent and our interests.

THE NEXT ELECTION IS NOVEMBER 2022.

Precinct 2 and the County Judge are both up for re-election in 2022.

THOSE THAT WANT TO RUN MUST FILE between November 14, 2021 - December 14, 2021 - so if you are thinking of running - get your stuff together.

1) Contact the county elections officer or your party's county chair. The elections officer can provide information about the availability of filing papers and answer questions regarding nominating petitions and other ballot procedures. 2) Arrange to pick up required paperwork. 3) Return your completed paperwork within the designated filing window. Political party candidates file with their party's county chair. Independent candidates file with the county judge. If a party nominates a candidate who dies, withdraws, or is determined ineligible, the deadline for candidates from that party to file is extended by five days.

Submit application to:
Matagorda County Judge, 1700 Seventh St., Bay City, TX, 77414, US

County Judge Nate McDonald, a democrat, barely won in 2018 - 3,393 vs 3,338 - so you can see that it only would take 55 votes to swing that election.  What if all of Sargent got behind a candidate - could we take the Judge role?

County Commissioner Kent Pollard, a democrat, ran unopposed in 2018 for Precinct 2 - our Precinct.  He only got 1,036 votes.

I can tell you we will be making damn sure that whoever runs for both Judge and County Commissioner publish their stance on getting funding for Sargent drainage issues and for beach restoration.

AND IF YOU ARE NOT REGISTERED TO VOTE - GO DO IT NOW!
