Public meeting has been set on the Sargent Beach restoration project.  All are welcome - please get in your letters of support - Note that the public meeting is hosted by the U.S Army Corps of Engineers, the Texas General Land office, Matagorda County and Atkins Global (the prime contractor on the project).

This is OUTSTANDING!!

More on the public meeting from GLO - Dave, thanks for reaching out. I can tell you that there is an upcoming public meeting scheduled for Friday November 6th at 5:30pm, tentatively at the fire station in Sargent (I’ll let you know if the location changes). This meeting is being organized by Judge McDonald and Commissioner Pollard and is for the purpose of discussing the long-term Sargent Beach stabilization measures project and the present Corps of Engineers permit application relating to that, for which Public Notice was posted on October 20th – you may view the public notice which includes the 30% preliminary design of the project online at the following address: https://www.swg.usace.army.mil/Media/Public-Notices/Article/2387210/swg-2018-00678-matagorda-county-gulf-of-mexico-matagorda-county-texas/

I’m sure there may be other general discussion about the situation at Sargent within the context of this meeting. USACE Galveston District Engineer/Commander Timothy Vail is scheduled to attend this meeting to be part of the discussion with local residents, along with other USACE staff and the engineering firm engaged by the GLO for this project.
