Update for Commissioner Estlinbaum - - right people pushing

A great update from Commissioner Estlinbaum - great responsiveness from him and State Rep Candidate Lauderback. This is the visibility we need to make sure the contract is completed.  Note that they still cannot violate bid rules for a project this size - but we have the right people pushing for it.

Yesterday, Commissioner Estlinbaum got a call from State Rep Candidate AJ Lauderback.  He was aware of the most recent delay and was asking me questions about it. He was minutes away from walking into a meeting with Texas Land Commissioner Dawn Buckingham. She is state elected and head of the GLO. He wanted to pass along our frustration with the most recent delay. Following that Estlinbaum got a call yesterday afternoon from David Green, Sr Director Coastal Protection with GLO. He assured him that the project is moving forward and he is on top of it. It was unfortunate that the awarded contractor didn't meet financials tests.

This morning, Estlinbaum got a call from Commissioner Buckingham herself. She assured him as well that they are committed to this project and share the frustration with the delays but they have to be sure a contractor can complete this project. There are state regulations regarding bidding and financials on a project this size that they have to follow. She made sure he knows that this has her attention and will stay on top of this.

If you are wondering who to think about voting for in the upcoming run-off for State rep, just know Estlinbaum hasn't heard from Mr. Lauderback's opponent or the sitting (and retiring) state rep. As a matter of fact, he has never met them since he took office. He’s not even sure they know about this project. This says a lot about the concern Mr. Lauderback has for the entire district he hopes to represent, not just Victoria. So, many thanks to him for passing along our concern and getting me feedback from the top of the GLO.
